Founding Story & Commitment to Honest Writing
Stoutmark started because two former journalists kept noticing the same pattern in men's health content online: confident headlines, no named author, and no way to check where a claim had actually come from. We wanted a slower, source-first alternative that treated readers as adults capable of deciding for themselves.
Every article now passes through a second editor before it's scheduled, and anything technical gets checked against NHS, MHRA or FSA guidance, or reviewed by a practitioner willing to be credited by name. We keep a running note of what changed in an article and when, rather than quietly editing the past.
We're upfront about how the site is funded: a small amount of sponsored content and affiliate links, always labelled, with no sponsor ever seeing a draft before publication. If we get something wrong, we say so in the piece itself, not in a buried edit.
Editorial Independence
No advertiser gets to see or approve a draft before it's published. Sponsored posts are labelled clearly and kept separate from our reporting.
Plain Language First
We write the way we'd explain something to a friend, not the way a textbook would. If a term needs jargon, we define it in the same sentence.
Accountable Corrections
When we get something wrong, we say so and fix it. Every correction is dated and explained at the bottom of the piece.
We choose what to cover based on what readers actually ask us, then check it against public guidance before a word gets published.

Every draft passes through a second editor before it's published, and technical sections get checked against public health guidance or a named practitioner. We keep a running log of corrections so readers can see what changed and why.
